Vegan Recipe: Easy Smoke Hickory Maple Bacon

It's not every day that I rave on recipes, but this is one that I have used for years. This stuff is incredible! Meat eaters take notice; this guilt free meal that will make your vegan spouse very happy.

  • 1 pound of Extra Firm Tofu
  • 2 Teaspoons of Liquid Smoke Hickory Flavor
  • 3 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoons Vegan Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 Tablespoons Maple Syrup
  • 1/2 cup Olive oil (more if needed)

This recipe makes everybody happy!
Mix all of the liquids, and then cut the drained tofu into slices. Not too thin, as it tends to fall apart, I cut them about 1/8 to1/4 inch. This depth has done well over the years. Soak the tofu in the marinade at least 15-20 minutes. Move the tofu around to assure it each piece gets good dose of marinade. While soaking prepare a frying pan with around a 1/4 inch of oil. Less oil causes a burn to occur on the bacon too quickly. Fry in the oil approximately 5 minutes per side, until it is nice and crispy. Heat the remaining marinade in the microwave about 30 seconds. Then pour over the bacon and serve.
Note: I have always doubled or tripled the above recipe (excluding the oil), because I found that I truly needed more marinade.
Enjoy!

Nestle Corp- Breaking the Law, Murders and Animal Testing

   URGENT CONSUMER NOTICE

Nestle, a company that has been in business since 1905 is at the forefront of animal lovers around the globe. In a recent report published by The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, states that Nestle has been performing unneeded and non-required testing on mice for their green tea products.
The mice are forced fed a concentrate of green tea, then placed in a pitch black cage. They are then shocked and eventually killed. In another useless test mice were purposely restricted to cause muscle degeneration. The experimenters then cut their legs open and decapitated them!

We are speaking of tiny mice, innocent and kind creatures being tortured for tea. Unfortunately, these are not the only test subjects that are being viciously tested on; Nestle also tests on dogs, rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, cats etc. Nestle currently holds the worse possible ECRA rating for their animal testing policy, lowered significantly upon the merger with L'Oreal. They have been the focus of national boycotts for their baby milk products. They are responsible for habitat destruction in Brazil's rain-forest, and have been a target for human rights, child trafficking and sweatshops. Then there are the human murders of Nestle workers, union leaders etc.; you can draw your own conclusions see Nestle Murders.

So why is Nestle getting away with all of this? Money, they have their hands deeply embedded in the pockets of politicians and world leaders. The only way that these atrocities will stop is by drastically slowing down the demand for their products. A Boycott is the only way to hurt a massive corporation like Nestle.
There are plenty of other products sold that are cruelty free see a list here: Leaping Bunny, Cruelty Free List. For detergents Huish products now Sun Products Corp the makers of , all®, Wisk®, Surf®, Sun®, Snuggle® and Sunlight® are not tested on animals.

March 21 2011 - International Day of Protest against Seal Clubbing

Protest for the Seals
By Lilly Anna
If you are as disgusted as most people are over seal hunting then join in the worldwide protest. On March 21 of 2011, animal lovers from all walks of life will come together for a peaceful protest against the barbaric clubbing of seals. Show your love for animals and your hatred for the brutal seal hunts. Give the seals a voice.

Animal welfare organizations, including In Defense of Animals, Coalition for Animal Rights, Seal Pup Defenders, Oceanic Defence, and Fur Free South Africa are in for the long haul and fight everyday for this cruelty to terminate. Each year over 500,000 infant seals are beaten to death, then slit open with a sharp knife (from the throat to tail) and the pelt removed. Some seals are still alive during this process and up to twenty minutes after. Left to die on the ice or tossed into the ocean, they are almost never eaten. These glorious creatures are killed for their fur, to robe those who see it as a status symbol. Yet, turn a blind eye to the vile and evil acts that occur, before they get their garment.

The largest seal murdering event is the Nambian Seal Cull, a hunt that is masterminded by Hatum Yuvaz Deri. When activist or reporters try to get footage of the event they are attacked! Not a lot of footage has been procured in Nambia, which is probably why there isn’t much chatter about it, but it continues behind a shield of blood. There is no excuse for this behavior, it is unacceptable and must be stopped, at all cost.

Visit the following link for protest locations. If you are not in proximity to one of the areas listed please consider holding your own protest. Contact an animal welfare group such as the ones listed above for assistance.

Your Favorite TV Show About Animals

Written by Landon Gilbert

I don't know about you, but I absolutely love the “Planet's Funniest Animals” TV show that comes on Animal Planet. If you aren't sure what I'm talking about, try to picture “America's Funniest Home Videos” but with animals! Each episode features loads of side-splitting, hilarious footage of animals doing funny things and people catching it on tape. Have you ever seen your cat or dog do something so funny that you spend a lot of your spare time trying to get them to do it again? These are the types of things that the animals do in the videos of “Planet's Funniest Animals,” and it's definitely worth a thousand laughs.
What makes the TV show even funnier is that the show will have different features including “Desperate Housepets,” “Animail,” and so much more. Additionally, the host, Keegan-Michael Key gives hilarious commentary throughout the entire show which makes it that much funnier.
I discovered “Planet's Funniest Animals” when I first started using my DirectTV, and I haven't stopped watching it since. To be honest, it may be even funnier than “America's Funniest Home Videos” but that's just my opinion (and I love animals).
I'm even thinking of submitting my own video of my dog chasing his tail because it's hilarious to watch. I think viewers of “Planet's Funniest Animals” would get a big kick out of it too!
