Think you'd look cool in that leather jacket? How cool would you feel if you knew that you could be wearing the skin of baby goats—or even the skin of a dog? Millions of animals— including zebras, bison, water buffaloes, boars, deer, kangaroos, elephants, eels, sharks, dolphins, seals, walruses, frogs, crocodiles, lizards, and snakes—are slaughtered every year for the global leather industry.
A large percentage of imported crocodile shoe leather and other items made from wildlife come from endangered, illegally hunted animals. Humane treatment is not a priority among poachers and hunters who deal in the dirty exotic-leather trade. Many animals are boiled and skinned alive just so that others can wear their skins.
The world is brimming with viable, fashionable alternatives to animal skins. Compassionate companies, such as H&M and Overstock.com, have agreed not to sell exotic skins and, in doing so, have sent a clear message that they are not and will never be involved with the barbaric exotic-skins industry.

How to save the last of America's Wild Horses
Photo Credit: Madeleine Pickens Wild Horses
Why do the BLM want the horses removed? The answer is to make room for cattle to graze. The BLM says there isn’t enough forage for both of them, so the horses must go. Why can’t the cattle go somewhere else? Where can they go? Over 80% of all farmland is to grow crops to feed livestock NOT people. Did you know that 95% of oats and 80% of corn grown in the world are used to feed animals, while people starve due to the poor function of developed land? People are dying from E-Coli found in the food they eat and this bacteria comes factory farms. These farms are unlike anything you have ever seen they are deplorable houses of death. There are thirteen cattle slaughter houses in the United States and they murder approximately 100,000 cows per day!

So here is the answer to the problem of the wild horses. Stop eating cows! Decrease the demand for meat and the horses will not suffer from it. Every time you eat a burger, another cow is needed to replace the meat. 2000 gallons of water are needed to make one steak, 16 pounds of grain is needed to make one pound of beef. It takes one acre of land to produce only 165 pounds of beef! Think about that when you have over 100 million cows in the United States alone and more being imported from Canada. Cattle are then fattened up in massive feedlots before being brutally murdered. Some of these feedlots can hold up to 150,000 cows at once!
Until the meat production decreases dramatically the wild horses will not be the only ones that are affected. Think about your dining preferences, save the majestic wild horses, yourself and the life of a very unlucky cow.

“Oreo’s Law” Would Give Dogs a Second Chance at Life -
FROM THE NOKILL ADVOCACY CENTER
The ASPCA killed Oreo, an abused dog, despite the fact that a local No Kill shelter had offered to save her. You can read more about the case in this independently written opinion for the Examiner: The Meaning of Oreo.
In response to the killing of Oreo, two New York State legislators have introduced legislation to prevent this from ever happening again. Please join us in supporting "Oreo's Law" so that her needless death will not be in vain.
